Race Assembly Description

Race Assembly Description

OVERVIEW

You will not find a more comprehensive, consistent, and detailed assembly anywhere! All used and new race and high-end bikes deserve nothing less than this ultra-comprehensive assembly. This luxurious spa treatment includes everything that can be done to a bike in a shop setting (wheel building is an additional cost).

The level of scrutiny is second-to-none and few bicycle stores or mechanics have the tools, means, or knowledge to thoroughly fine-tune the precision machine your bicycle is designed to be. A report on your bicycle will be provided, too. This process can take four to five hours to complete.

All accessible nuts and bolts are tightened (torqued) to specification. Likewise, all adjustments and component positions are that way because they are put in that position. Nothing is left to chance, a ten-year old on the sweatshop assembly line in Asia should not have the final say in the assembly of your bicycle. Most shops are content with pre-assembled bikes and merely finish the assembly without ensuring these concerns are professionally addressed.

Why so much time and effort? The cumulative effect of substandard parts or processes compounds during each stage of the assembly. The functionality rapidly declines when mixed with other parts/processes that have similar shortcomings. A part that functions at 100% of its expected capabilities as a standalone product might only attain a 70% functionality when it interacts with the other components.

COST

Maximum $300 per NEW bike (USED bikes add up to $50 cleaning surcharge)

ELIGIBILITY

New and used bicycles OR a frameset with necessary parts OR a frame/frameset where I'll spec the parts

UPGRADES over Consumer Assembly

* Nearly a complete disassembly
* Bearing and frame surface preparation (reaming, facing, chasing, honing as required)
* More detailed cleaning
* Greatest level of inspection
* Significant reduction for nearly all additional labor
* Plus a few other goodies

UPGRADES over Overhaul

Basically everything as above but a "downgrade" would be less cleaning and only a nominal regreasing during the assembly. It is a much better service than the Overhaul hands down! Bikes less than ~three years old should opt for the Race Assembly.

NOTES

One of the most incredible services, leaves basically nothing to chance.
