OVERVIEW
Cleaning can be broken down into four categories or levels for sake of argument. Someone has to decide what's dirty, real dirty, or apocalyptic so be nice to me when you present your "clean" bike. Some common sense should tell you what to expect. Read the descriptions below to find the one that best describes your situation. If I don't think the service will clean the bike I won't advise or guarantee it. Most of these are included in one form or another in other service packages but they are also available as standalone items.
QUICK WIPEDOWN
This is not even considered a cleaning. It's just what it says, a quick wipedown. It cleans up the shop dust and spiffs up the bike just a hair. The bike will be a bit cleaner than when it came in, that's the only guarantee. Cost: Free, bring in your bike anytime
SIMPLE CLEANING
Dirty or real dirty bikes will not be cleaned by this process and may only look marginally better if attempted: wipe down frame; wipe down chain, cassette, crankset with a very quick brushing to get rid of some of the big junk; quickly clean the braking surface. This is for the mostly-clean bike to remain that way. Cost: $20
BASIC CLEANING
Dirty bikes will be cleaned. Real dirty bikes will be mostly cleaned by this process: wipe down frame; wipe down and degrease rims (clean spokes and hubs a bit, too); clean chain with scrubbing and cleaner to remove all visible grit; clean cassette and chainrings; deglaze brakes if necessary; clean grips and saddle if possible. Maybe add some compressed air to blow out some additional gunk. Cost: $35
SHOWROOM CLEANING
Maybe two washes with warm water, lots of soap, more brushes than a model's make-up kit, and lots of elbow grease to pick up where Basic Cleaning would end. It's definitely not perfect but it's gonna be impressive. Cost: $65
MUSEUM CLEANING
Start with the best Showroom Cleaning as the foundation with a complete removal, overhaul, and cleaning of all parts. Fortunately my Ultrasonic Cleaner is up to the task. It would also include detail work, touch-ups, minor paint repair, toothpicks, cotton swabs, on and on. You know, restoration and conservation stuff. The only collective service which approaches perfection is the Race Assembly combined with the Overhaul for used bikes (handily, they are both found in the Diamond Plan) Or buy a new bike from me and see for yourself. Therefore, it's kind of hard to offer this service as a standalone item since various aspects are fleeting at best. Cost: probably much more than you're thinking
